Sustainability in Housing

We partner with the Office of Sustainability, Panther Central, Pitt Eats, Pitt Mobility, Residence Life, and University Housing to ensure that our student residents have access to the resources they need to live more sustainably on campus!

Campus Basic Needs Committee

The University understands the need to support the health and well-being of students, faculty, and staff. The Campus Basic Needs Committee provides basic needs resources for the Pitt community.

Clutter for a Cause

Since 2016, Clutter for a Cause promotes a zero-waste move out. Volunteers collect clothing, textiles, dorm room essentials, electronics, and non-perishable food for donation, resale, or recycling.

EcoReps

Meet EcoReps, student leaders who commit to integrating sustainability in residence hall life. Ask your EcoRep how you can live more sustainably on campus!

Green Resident Program

As a student living on-campus, become a member of Pitt’s Green Resident Program to initiate a more sustainable lifestyle. Compete with your residence hall floormates for the chance to become a Pitt Green Floor.

Sustainable Housing

The Sustainable Housing initiative works to reduce Pitt’s environmental footprint across all existing and new housing buildings.

Zero-Waste Programming

Business, Hospitality, and Auxiliary Services partners with students, faculty, and staff to incorporate Zero-Waste Programming in University housing, dining and stores.
