Matthew Sterne — Vice Chancellor

Matthew Sterne is the Vice Chancellor for Business Services at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, he oversees all auxiliary operations for the University, which includes housing, dining, Panther Central, conference services, the University Club, the campus store operations, parking and transportation services, mailing, printing and copy services, and surplus property. Matthew manages a staff of over 300 employees in multiple facilities on campus, including 20 residence halls, 18 dining locations, and four stores.

Matthew’s prior experience includes more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, including senior leadership roles managing Fairmont properties in Boston; Scottsdale; Sonoma; and Mont-Tremblant, Canada; as well as Sheraton Hotels in Montreal and San Diego.

Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University and an MBA from Queen’s University, has served on the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association Board of Directors, is a Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. program graduate, and served as vice chair of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.


Julie Bannister — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services

As the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services, Julie Bannister oversees and provides strategic guidance to the Housing Assignments and Leasing, Panther Central, and Dining Services units of Business, Hospitality, and Auxiliary Services. She also supervises the support units of Marketing and Communications and Business Systems. Julie’s duties include oversight of all on-campus housing assignments and University-owned off-campus leasing, the direction of Panther Central’s 24-7 customer care center, management of over twenty on-campus dining locations, review of marketing materials, development, and implementation of departmental business systems, and supervision of staff. Jackie Gillespie — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Hospitality

As the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Hospitality, Jackie oversees conference and event services on campus, leading the Heinz Memorial Chapel and Conference Services teams. Jackie also oversees the University Club, Pitt’s private faculty and staff club, and the Oakland campus’ premier event venue. The collective goal of the Hospitality Team is to provide exceptional customer service, professional planning expertise, and outstanding execution for any type of event hosted at the University’s venues, from research camps and conferences to weddings and celebrations. Jackie and her team work to deliver first-in-class experiences to all guests, faculty, staff, students, and community members from the moment they arrive at the University of Pittsburgh and endeavor to make our campus a most welcoming destination.

 

 

Monica Rattigan — Executive Director of University Stores and Strategic Initiatives

Monica Rattigan is the Executive Director of University Stores and Strategic Initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh.  In this role, she oversees the operations for the University-owned and operated retail stores, including The University Store on Fifth, The Pitt Shop, Maggie & Stella’s Cards & Gifts, and The Pitt Shop at the Pete. Her duties include directing all inventory management, budget oversight, marketing, merchandising, point of sale systems, and review of policies and procedures.

 

 

Kevin Sheehy — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Operations and Finance

Kevin Sheehy is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Operations and Finance.  He is responsible for overseeing Auxiliary Finances for the following divisions: Mobility (Parking and Transportation); Housing; Food Services; Hospitality; Panther Central; and the Retail Stores.  He is also responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mobility and Logistics Divisions. These divisions consist of the following units: Parking; Transportation (including campus shuttles); Commuting Alternatives; Household Goods - Relocation; Mailing Services; Student Mail; Surplus Property; Central Receiving; Moving Services; and Copy Cat Center.
